Description
Abstract: In this talk, I will discuss the existence of new and surprising structures hidden within a calculable limit of four-dimensional gauge theories. The particular limit is that of large-N gauge theories, with *arbitrary* numbers of massless adjoint fermions and scalars, placed on the compact four-manifold S3 x S1, at weak-coupling. Surprisingly, in this limit the high-temperature scaling of the partition functions matches that of a two-dimensional quantum field theory — additionally, they have well-defined modular weight. As a corollaries have interesting connections to conjectured level-matching between bosons and fermions in large-N QCD *unrelated* to supersymmetry, vacuum energies, and to modular forms with product representations.
