The Ecological and Environmental Economics Programme, a joint programme of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) and the Beijer International Institute of Ecological Economics, in collaboration with the Centre for Environmental Economics and Policy in Africa (CEEPA), is organising the 2nd Advanced Course on Computable General Equilibrium Modelling (CGE) and the Environment, to be held in Trieste, Italy, from 1 to 12 December 2003. The Course will focus on how to develop and use CGE models to address environmental issues. Particular emphasis will be given to non-linear environmental and economic dynamics involved in climate change. The workshop programme will include an introduction to the static CGE traditional approach, moving to dynamic optimisation issues and training on GAMS package. Participants will receive practical instruction and hands-on training on how to develop and use CGE models on GAMS, as they will be required to build and present their own “simple” CGE model at the end of the workshop.
