Advanced Lectures on Theoretical Physics
Supporting physics teaching and research in Latin America

Physics Without Frontiers (PWF) and PhysicsLatam are pleased to offer the Quantum Field Theory I course, which aims to provide senior undergraduate and graduate students in Latin America with advanced knowledge in Quantum Field Theory. The course will be taught online from September 2023 to January 2024 by Daniel Galviz YMSC (Tsinghua University, CN) and ICTS (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, IN).

The course is open to students from all Latin America, and every student who passes the course will receive an ICTP-PWF certificate. In addition, students from the University of Los Andes (ULA) will receive unit credits in their respective transcripts.

Throughout the course, students will engage with other students from different universities in Latin America to study a range of topics in theoretical physics, including Quantum Field Theory, Quantum Electrodynamics, and Gauge Theories. Students will have the opportunity to solve weekly assignments on these topics and participate in online discussions.

To further enhance the learning experience, the course will feature a series of guest speakers who will deliver short lectures on the applications of Quantum Field Theory to different fields such as Particle Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Math, string theory, etc. A follow up QFT II course will be offered from March to July 2024.

PWF is committed to providing a platform for students in Latin America to pursue advanced studies in physics. As part of this commitment, top-performing students without MSc./Ph.D. will be mentored to pursue studies abroad by providing advice and recommendations about scholarships at international programs.

HOW TO APPLY:

The application procedure for the Quantum Field Theory I course is open now here from July 1st to August 31st, 2023.
