The call for applications will be open soon

The College will provide analytical training and information on the assessment of energy system and energy technologies when developing analyzing energy transition and demand and supply options in line with the global climate treaty of Paris Agreement.

Transition to low carbon future depends on actions within energy system, as the major source of anthropogenic greenhouse gases (GHG). There is a need to identify and evaluate cost-effective, low-carbon energy demand and supply paths. The College is aimed at improving knowledge and skills for assessment of energy technologies in relation to climate change.
Analytical tools and data sets for energy planning have substantially improved in the last decade. Still the expertise to conduct such assessments is lacking in many developing countries. Nationally specific assessments to develop set of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) are needed. The College will provide information about energy related climate and sustainable development issues and interlinkages, and training on evaluation of NDCs, including potential role of nuclear power and Small Modular Reactors.

Topics:
  • Climate change and sustainable development
  • Energy system analysis and planning
  • Low-carbon technologies and innovative solution for emission reduction scenarios
  • Demonstration of the application of the IAEA’s tools to analyse transition towards low carbon energy systems
  • Comparison of various paths and technological options, including nuclear power, sector coupling and deep electrification
  • Work sessions on assessment of energy systems, and development of related case studies

Grants: A limited number of grants are available to support the attendance of selected participants, with priority given to participants from developing countries. There is no registration fee.
