DESCRIPTION:An ICTP-IAEA meeting \n	The workshop provides specialized trai
ning on safety standards and best practices for radiation protection of pa
tients and staff in nuclear medicine\, thereby supporting the reduction of
potential radiation risks and fostering a strong safety culture while ens
uring optimal patient care.\n\n	The clinical applications of nuclear medic
ine procedures are rapidly expanding\, offering substantial benefits to pa
tients. However\, the introduction of new technologies\, procedures\, and
radiopharmaceuticals necessitates specific safety measures to ensure the r
adiation protection of both patients and staff.\n	This workshop is designe
d to enhance knowledge and facilitate the exchange of expertise to ensure
the safe application of nuclear medicine techniques in both diagnosis and
treatment\, while addressing the challenges and risks posed by the continu
ous evolution in this field.\n	Primarily targeted at experienced clinical
medical physicists in nuclear medicine\, this workshop is particularly rel
evant for those from departments planning to introduce new methods or radi
opharmaceuticals into clinical practice. Participants are expected to pres
ent their department's radiation protection programme.Topics\n	• Nuclear
medicine facility planning and shielding calculations\n	• Management of
radioactive materials and radiation waste\n	• Workplace and personal do
se monitoring practices\n	• Radiation protection during the production a
nd administration of radiopharmaceuticals\n	• Practical strategies for o
ptimizing radiation protection of patients and staff members\n	• Release
of patients following diagnostic or therapeutic procedures\n	• Nuclear
medicine procedures during pregnancy and breastfeeding\n	• Prevention an
d management of incidents and incident reporting mechanisms\n	• Safety c
 ultureSpeakers\n	S. Chauvie\, Santa Croce e Carle Hospital\, Cuneo\, Italy
