Physics Latam will offer an online course in 2D Conformal Field Theory (CFT) for undergraduate and graduate students in Latin America and other developing countries.

The 2D Conformal Field Theory course will be taught online from 8th September 2025 to 30th January 2026 by Jiaxi Cao from Stony Brook University and Deepali Singh from Würzburg University. Students will be trained in the foundations and advanced aspects of conformal field theory in two dimensions, with connections to statistical physics, string theory, and quantum gravity. Every approved student will receive an ICTP-PWF certificate upon completion.

Goals and deliverables

• Train students in Latin America and developing countries in modern techniques and concepts of conformal field theory in two dimensions.

• Provide exposure to cutting-edge research areas related to CFT.

• Weekly problem sets will reinforce theoretical understanding.

• Top students without MSc./Ph.D. degrees will be mentored and guided to pursue graduate studies abroad, with advice on scholarships and international applications.
