PWF Thailand : Workshop in Computational Cosmology and High Energy Physics
Starts 20 Oct 2025 03:00
Ends 24 Oct 2025 13:00
Asia/Bangkok
University of Phayao, Thailand
This workshop is designed to introduce undergraduate students to essential computational techniques used in cosmology and high-energy physics. Through a combination of lectures, hands-on coding sessions, and interactive projects, participants will gain practical experience in simulations, data analysis, and numerical modeling—key skills for modern physics research.
Key Topics Covered:
Python for Physics: Learn to use Python libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, Astropy) for scientific computing.
Basics of Theoretical and Observational Cosmology: Dark Energy, Dark Matter, Current Cosmological Observations, and Monte Carlo Simulations.
Particle Physics Tools: Analyse detector data, and explore statistical methods in high-energy physics.
Data Analysis & Visualization: Process real astrophysical and particle physics datasets, and create meaningful visualizations.
University students in Thailand studying physics, astronomy, or related fields in computational research may apply. No prior coding experience required—basic Python familiarity is helpful but not mandatory.
Interactive Lectures: Learn fundamental concepts from experts in cosmology and particle physics.
Hands-on Coding Labs: Work on guided projects with real-world applications.
Collaborative Projects: Team up to tackle mini-research problems and present findings.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have a strong foundation in scientific programming, simulation techniques, and data-driven physics, preparing them for advanced studies or research opportunities.
