DESCRIPTION:Abstract \n\n	Dark matter is one of the biggest mysteries of m
 odern day physics\, yet its identity remains unknown. In this talk\, I wil
 l focus on light dark matter\, and present new proposals for its direct de
 tection in the laboratory that hold much promise. These include the use of
  superconducting nanowires\, two-dimensional targets such as graphene\, an
 d unconventional materials with low-energy plasmons. Considering dark matt
 er interactions with these targets\, I will demonstrate the potential of t
 he light dark matter direct detection program in upcoming years.\n\n	Link
