DESCRIPTION:\n	The two-week School is designed for early career profession
 als from developing countries\, ideally with 1-3 years of experience and w
 orking at relevant institutions in their home countries. The school provid
 es an intense contemporary overview of nuclear security. Candidates should
  have a specific career interest in or knowledge of nuclear security\, alt
 hough academic and technical backgrounds may vary. Candidates with a scien
 tific or technical background in a discipline such as nuclear physics\, nu
 clear engineering\, international relations\, law enforcement\, or related
  fields are especially encouraged to apply.\n\n	 \n\n	The school will con
 sist of a series of lectures\, group discussions and practical exercises\,
  designed to incorporate the acquired knowledge into national planning and
  procedures to protect against threats to nuclear security. A technical vi
 sit will be conducted to show the participants some detection equipment an
 d their applications.\n\n	 \n\n	The School curriculum will include the fo
 llowing topics:\n	 \n\n		Nuclear Security Overview and Essential Elements
 \n	\n		International legal framework for nuclear security \n	\n		Identifi
 cation of and measures to address\, threats against nuclear security\n	\n	
 	Physical protection of nuclear material and nuclear facilities\n	\n		Phys
 ical protection system design and evaluation\n	\n		Nuclear security regime
  for radioactive material and associated facilities\n	\n		Transport securi
 ty for nuclear and other radioactive material\n	\n		Threat and risk assess
 ment\, nuclear security detection architecture \n	\n		Radiation detection
  instruments and detection strategies and techniques \n	\n		Nuclear secur
 ity culture\, concept and definition\, self-assessment and enhancement\n	\
 n		Information and computer security\n	\n		Introduction to Nuclear Materia
 l Accounting & Control and threats addressed by NMAC\n	\n		Threat and risk
  for material out of regulatory control \n	\n		Nuclear security systems a
 nd measures for major public events\n	\n		Incident and trafficking databas
 e global analysis\n	\n		Nuclear forensics and radiological crime scene man
 agement \n	\n		IAEA Programmes and Assistance for Human Resource Developm
 ent in Nuclear Security\n	\n		Gender Equality and Diversity in Nuclear Sec
 urity\n\n	Prerequisites:\n	As a prerequisite to be eligible for the select
 ion process\, all applicants are asked to complete at least 8 of the 22 ex
 isting IAEA E-Learning modules on nuclear security\, based on their choice
