DESCRIPTION:The call for application is open\nPlease click on APPLY HERE o
n the left\, in order to submit your application\n	This workshop aims to p
rovide a comprehensive perspective on the scientific and technological app
lications related to Space Weather phenomena\, with a special focus on the
ionosphere and its effects on space-borne and ground-based technological
systems. This initiative seeks to strengthen national competencies and enh
ance ionospheric and Space Weather research particularly in Africa.\n	Spac
e Weather refers to the interaction between the Sun and the Earth's near-s
pace environment and has far-reaching impacts on various technologies. Phe
nomena such as cosmic radiation\, solar flares\, coronal mass ejections\,
and geomagnetic storms can significantly affect modern technological infra
structures. \n\n	\n The workshop will address research in the field of S
pace Weather\, examinig the properties and interactions of the coupled Mag
netosphere-Ionosphere-Thermosphere (MIT) system and its forcing by energy
inputs from the Sun\, the underlying atmosphere and the solid Earth. The o
bjective of the different lectures is to introduce the ionosphere and plas
masphere up to the plasmapause\, including magnetic fields\, solar radiati
on and solar wind. Particular attention will be devoted to the study of Sp
ace Weather effects on services and infrastructures related to satellite c
ommunication\, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS)-based positionin
 g\, aviation\, satellite operations\, Earth observation\, and power-grid m
anagement.\n	Topics:\n Space Weather and MIT coupling\n \n GNSS funda
 mentals\n \n Ionospheric irregularities\n \n Ionospheric monitoring
and modelling\n \n Impact of Geomagnetic Disturbances on Power Transmis
sion Networks\n	\n\n	Grants: A limited number of grants are available to s
upport the attendance of selected participants\, with priority given to pa
rticipants from developing countries. There is no registration fee.\n\n
