DESCRIPTION:The call for application is now closed.\nThe workshop focuses
on numerical techniques for ocean models from coastal to large scales\, sh
aring experience on model development\, consistent coupling between numeri
cs and  parameterisations\, as well as perspectives on dynamical core for
mulations.\nThe Community for the Numerical Modeling of the Global\, Regio
nal\, and Coastal Ocean (COMMODORE) initiative brings together ocean model
developers from different communities in bianual workshops. Models have n
ow reached such a high level of complexity that model development goes bey
ond the expertise of one group and requires interactions between physicist
s\, mathematicians\, and computer scientists. Contributions to the consist
ent coupling of hydrodynamics with other Earth system components are highl
y welcome to foster a more systematic communication between numerical mode
lers from different research disciplines. A special focus of the 4th COMMO
DORE workshop will be the involvement of scientific communities from devel
oping countries discussing demands and challenges for model development fo
r applications such as climate adaptations\, extreme events\, fishery mana
gement and local policies. There is no registration fee.Topics:\nTopics co
ver all aspects of advances in numerical ocean models and dynamical core d
 evelopment\, for example:\n formulations for the dynamical equations\n	\n
 		numerical methods (discretization\, time stepping\, ...)\n	\n community
test cases and diagnostics for comparative model evaluation\n	\n consist
ent coupling between resolved dynamics and parameterized subgrid-scale phy
 sics\n	\n uncertainty quantification\nLocal Organisers:\nD. Bruciaferri\,

entation\nParticipants who have uploaded an abstract will be contacted ind
ividually at a later stage to inform them whether they will be assigned a
talk or a poster presentation.Grants: A limited number of grants are avail
able to support the attendance of selected participants\, with priority gi
