DESCRIPTION:\n	Abstract \n\n	Motivated by the search for universal behavi
our in quantum gravity\, asymptotic regions of the moduli space have been
studied in great detail in recent years.\n	However\, especially in the con
text of minimal supersymmetry\, quantum corrections to the classical effec
tive action can severely modify and even completely remove naively infinit
e directions in the moduli space. We will study this surprising effect in
the context of 4d N=1 Type II orientifolds and their F- or M-theory lifts.
Using a variety of complementary ideas\, we argue that infinite distance
limits in the moduli sector inherited from the vector multiplets of an und
erlying N=2 theory do not exist once quantum effects are taken into accoun
 t. This general observation may also affect phenomenologically important c
oncepts such as moduli stabilization towards boundaries of moduli space.\n
