DESCRIPTION:ICTP Associates Seminars are part personal\, part scientific\,
with speakers sharing their career trajectory and experiences\, then intr
oducing their research field and work.\nIn this seminar\, Prof. Reza Ejteh
adi from Sharif University of Technology\, Tehran\, will discuss being a s
cientist in Iran\, and work on active matter in his group in Iran.\nZoom l
 ink: https://zoom.us/meeting/register/9hJpULyeTuOKKvck7sqCgg\nAbstract: As
it is going to be the custom in this series of seminars\, in the first pa
rt I will present a picture of the life of a scientist in Iran to see how
being active under these circumstances can differ from the general image o
f the usual activity. n the second part I will give an overview of the sea
rch activities of my group in Iran. We focus on soft and biological matter
s and in the last decade we have also become interested in active particle
s\, active polymers and active matters.\nBio: PhD in Physics from Sharif U
niversity of Technology\, Tehran\, 1998. Postdoctoral researcher at the Ma
x Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz and at the University of
British Columbia in Vancouver. In 2004\, I returned to Sharif University o
f Technology\, where I founded the "Soft Matter" research group and have h
eld a professorship since 2013. Since 2011\, I have been a member of Commi
ssions C3\, C6\, and C20 of the "International Union of Pure and Applied P
hysics (IUPAP)". From 2008 to 2014\, I was a board member of the Physics S
ociety of Iran and its president from 2016 to 2023. For two terms (from 20
 14 to 2025)\, I was a Senior Associate at the ICTP\, QLS.\n \n\n	We look
forward to seeing many of you in person and on Zoom!\n\n\n//indico.ictp.it
