DESCRIPTION:ICTP Associates Seminars are part personal\, part scientific\
, with speakers sharing their career trajectory and experiences\, then int
roducing their research field and work.  In this seminar\, Fabricio Sang
uinetti Cruz de Oliveira will discuss ocean dynamical processes and the di
spersion of materials like oil spills and drifting seaweed. \n\nZoom link:
  https://zoom.us/meeting/register/9hJpULyeTuOKKvck7sqCgg \n\nAbstract \n\
nThis presentation focuses on ocean dynamical processes across a range of
spatial and temporal scales\, from the South Atlantic to the Southern Ocea
 n. Particular attention is given to ocean–atmosphere interactions and to
the transport of dispersive materials\, including marine oil spills and d
rifting seaweed. To investigate these processes\, my group and I integrate
  satellite observations\, research-vessel measurements\, meteo-oceanograph
ic reanalyses\, and numerical modeling. Together\, these approaches provid
e insights into variability and transport processes across these ocean bas
ins. \n\nBio \n\nI’m a physical oceanographer interested in understandin
g how the ocean moves and interacts with the atmosphere\, using a combinat
ion of satellite observations\, in situ data\, and numerical models. My wo
rk focuses on ocean circulation and variability across different spatial a
nd temporal scales. My academic background includes a degree in fishery en
gineering from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco\, a MSc in remot
e sensing from the National Institute for Space Research\, and a PhD in ph
ysical oceanography from the University of São Paulo\, all in Brazil\, fo
llowed by postdoctoral research at the University of São Paulo and at the
Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science\, University of Miami
. Since 2015\, I have been a Professor at the Oceanography Institute of th
e Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG)\, where I coordinate the Laborat
ory of Dynamical and Satellite Oceanography (LODS). We look forward to see
ing many of you in person and on Zoom!\n\n//indico.ictp.it/event/11397/
