The call for applications is now open.
This school equips early-career researchers with an integrated approach to biomaterials developement, combining synchrotron-based Micro-CT and FTIR, alongside Atomic Force Microscopy, AI-driven design, and additive manufacturing to taylor application-specific biomaterials and translate laboratory research into real-world applications.
An integrated workflow spanning biomaterials characterization using synchrotron radiation, AI-driven design, and fabrication will be delivered throughout the school. Participants will explore synchrotron-based Micro-Computed Tomography (Micro-CT) for 3D architecture, AFM for surface topography, and FTIR for chemical composition to establish structure–property relationships. Hands-on sessions will focus particularly on analyzing Micro-CT datasets using machine-learning methods for data-driven design, predictive modeling, and optimization for biomedical and sustainability applications. Finally, participants will explore translating optimized designs into functional constructs through 3D printing and additive manufacturing, gaining practical skills to advance biomaterials research toward real-world applications.
