An ICTP Meeting
We invite applications to the 8th ICTP summer school on Theory, Mechanisms and Hierarchical Modelling of Climate Dynamics. The focus will be on tropical and extratropical waves and their links to extremes in a changing climate, combining fundamental theory and perspectives on predictability and societal impacts.
Rossby waves and tropical waves play a central role in shaping weather and climate extremes in the tropics and extra-tropics, yet key questions about their dynamics and response to climate change remain open. The school will introduce the fundamentals of atmospheric wave dynamics and explore the mechanisms through which these waves influence extreme events. Lectures will be complemented by hands-on training on tools for analyzing atmospheric waves and group projects applying these approaches to selected problems.
Grants: A limited number of grants are available to support the attendance of selected participants, with priority given to participants from developing countries. There is no registration fee.
