Biosketch:
Particle physicist Rohini Godbole is a professor at the Bangalore-based Indian Institute of Science at the Center for High Energy Physics. Over the past three decades, she has worked extensively on different aspects of particle phenomenology, authoring close to 300 research publications in refereed journals and arxived e-prints and a graduate text book on supersymmetry. She has actively worked for initiatives to attract and retain more women in science at all levels.
Abstract:
I will tell stories of prominent women mathematicians and physicists who were early pioneers in these two sciences. I will then comment on the situation today. My talk will identify some of the best practices to attract and retain more women into the subject of mathematics and physics.
