In this talk, we first discuss the equilibrium properties of a linear polymer chain in a confined space e.g. the cone-shaped channel (entropy gradient) to understand the transport of biopolymers from pore etc. In the second part, we shall discuss the effects of the net gradient field arising due to the competition between the velocity gradient and solvent quality gradient (e.g. chemical potential, pH of the solvent, concentration of ions etc) on the dynamics of polymers. Multi-factor gradients are essential components of many biological phenomena. Insight into the behavior of such systems is of fundamental importance in a wide spectrum of systems.
