Abstract. Hellerman et al. pointed out that operators with large internal charge can generally be associated, via the state-operator correspondence, to a superfluid phase of the theory on the cylinder. As a consequence, the universal low energy description of the hydrodynamic Goldstone modes of the superfluid allows to analyze semiclassically correlation functions of these operators in an expansion in inverse powers of the charge. In my talk, I will motivate this general construction by discussing how it emerges perturbatively in the O(2) Wilson Fisher fixed point in 4-epsilon dimensions. I will then use effective field theory to study also operators with both large charge and large spin, extending some previous analyses and providing results complementary to the bootstrap predictions. If time permits, I will also review the generalization of these ideas for theories with moduli spaces.
