WORKSHOP ON "MESOSCOPIC PHYSICS AND ELECTRON INTERACTION" | (smr 1415)
Starts 24 Jun 2002
Ends 5 Jul 2002

This Workshop continues the series of activities at the ICTP with the goal of better understanding the role of electron interaction in physics of mesoscopic systems. Among others, the following problems will be discussed:
- Role of interaction and disorder in carbon nano-tubes
- Electron interaction in quantum dots
- Electron interaction and transport in two-dimensional systems
- Mesoscopic systems driven by time-dependent perturbations
- Energy relaxation and low-temperature dephasing in mesoscopic systems
The purpose of this Workshop is to bring together key theorists and experimentalists in the field, both from developed and developing countries, to create an atmosphere of collaboration with multiple interaction among them. In order to reach this objective we plan to invite a number of active and relatively young scientists to stay and collaborate for the whole period of the Workshop. In addition to that, we plan to organize a conference during the second week of the Workshop where most of experimentalists and theorists specially invited for this period will have an opportunity to give a talk. In this way we are going to combine a collaboration with mostly informal discussions with an intense exchange of results and ideas during the conference.
