FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT International Topical Conference on Plasma Physics: Colloidal Plasma Science 3 - 7 July 2000 Abdus Salam ICTP, Trieste, Italy Conveners: P. K. Shukla (Germany-Chairman) R. Bingham (UK) and L. Stenflo (Sweden)
The International Topical Conference on Plasma Physics: Colloidal Plasma Science is the continuation of a series of biennial conferences held at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste (Italy). The purpose of the present conference is to provide a forum for a large number of participants drawn from Eastern Europe, FSU, the developing countries, as well as the industrial nations. The Conference is open to scientists from all member states of the United Nations, UNESCO or IAEA. We shall cover various aspects of collective processes in colloidal and dusty plasma sciences, as well as strongly coupled systems with high-Z impurities. Thus, we shall be dealing with research fields which are cross-disciplinary. Furthermore, one of the main purposes of the conference is to help research workers from developing, as well as the FSU and east European, countries to establish long-term contacts and collaborations with scientists from the western countries and Japan. The Conference will be held at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste (Italy), which is famous for excellence in science. Members of International Advisory Committee J.E. Allen (UK), S. Benkadda (France), R. Bharuthram (South Africa), U. de Angelis (Italy), N.F. Cramer (Australia), M.A.H. Hassan (Sudan/Italy), O. Havnes (Norway), M. Horanyi (USA), Lin I (Taiwan), D.A. Mendis (USA; Chairman IAC), R.L. Merlino (USA), G.E. Morfill (Germany), G. Murtaza (Pakistan), M. Nambu (Japan), A.P. Nefedov (Russia), H.C. Full details regarding the submission of abstracts will be given in the Second Announcement. Papers and Publications According to the Programme Committee decision, the Proceedings will be published after the Conference. The manuscripts for the Review and Topical lectures as well as for the contributed poster papers, must be handed over to the Scientific Secretary on the first day of the Conference. The detailed instructions will be sent to the main author of each accepted paper prior to the meeting. These will be published in Physica Scripta. The Proceedings of the Conference will be distributed to all registered members of the conference. Registration Fee The registration fee will be US Dollar 250. Participants from developing countries and the visiting scientists/associates to the ICTP shall be exempted from the registration fee. The fee will cover all the social events (informal get-together on arrival, official reception, Banquet, etc.) and the Conference Proceedings. Financial Support As a rule, travel and subsistence expenses of the participants are borne by their home institutions.
