This introductory School on string theory is addressed to graduate students
and physicists or mathematicians in other fields, with a basic knowledge of
field theory (up to QED), general relativity (up to Schwarzschild), and
some Lie algebra theory and differential geometry.

The School is open to scientists and students from member states of the UN,
UNESCO or IAEA.  Limited funds are available to cover the costs of some
participants from Latin American countries only, to be selected by the
organizers.  Applicants are, however, urged to obtain at least partial
travel support from their own local sources.  Scientists from outside Latin
America may also participate, although no financial support can be offered.
There is no registration fee.
