The South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE), Kathmandu has just completed 4 years of its existence and in this period has sponsored a number of research studies dealing with issues of development and environment in this region. A recurrent theme among many such studies is Common Property Resource (CPRs) and local Institutions which manage them. In developing countries, the reliance on CPRs as a source of livelihood continues to be important and therefore of crucial importance to communities of this region. SANDEE's literature search has revealed that there are few case-study based volumes available for the South Asia region that bring this into focus at a regional level and allow for comparability across geographical zones.
SANDEE has therefore taken the initiative to bring together a volume of studies emanating from SANDEE sponsored/associated research from the South Asia region and commissioned three editors Narpat Jodha, Rucha Ghate and Pranab Mukhopadhyay for this project. SANDEE's target is to have the manuscript ready to be sent to publishers by 2005.
During this meeting hosted by the EEE Progrtamme, paper-writers will convene to Trieste to prepare the final manuscript for this book.
PARTICIPATION IS UPON INVITATION ONLY.
