Michael Bate, professor of developmental biology, University of Cambrige, UK, in a talk entitled “From Embryos to Behaviour", will speak on the construction of the brain and the emergence of behaviour as the most complex aspect of the developmental process of an embryo. Although we have begun to understand how inherited information can be used to build such structures as legs and wings, we are only beginning to understand how such information is used to assemble the neural circuits that underlie behaviour. ICTP scientists and staff and the public are invited to attend.
