Description |
We discuss a quantum-mechanical model with matrix variables that has been originally introduced for D0-branes in string theory. Upon replacing Hall electrons with D0-branes, the model naturally accounts for the Laughlin and Jain wave functions of phenomenological approaches. The matrix model could provide another effective field theory of the fractional quantum Hall effect. |
