Description |
The phase of the optical beam around a point (or a line) where the intensity is zero is undefined. This point is called phase singular point and the research field, which deals with the beam character around this point, is named singular optics. Different types of singularities have been studied in the literature. In recent years, a special type of singularity named optical vortex received particular attention. A beam having such a singularity at its axis carries a well-defined value of the orbital angular momentum. The main aim of the workshop is application of the optical vortex in the different physics research fields such as: 1- Generation and manipulation of optical vortices 2- Imaging from micro- to astronomical-systems 3- Optical tweezers 4- Quantum information 5- Random optical vortices and beam patterns 6- Vortices in quantum turbulence 7- BEC and exciton-polariton condensates 8- Liquid crystals |
