The detailed control of quantum systems allows for creating artificial static gauge fields.  This is an example of a new generation of experiments that allow to implement Feynman's old idea of using a quantum mechanics to simulate some other quantum system.
We shall also discuss the possibility of simulating the Dirac equation in artificial gravitational backgrounds.
