The School is&nbsp; co-sponsored by the International Geothermal Association (IGA) and the&nbsp; International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG). Geothermal energy&nbsp; offers unique possibilities to support the sustainable progress of the&nbsp; economy of Developing and Least Developed Countries (DC/LDC) through the&nbsp; extensive utilization of a Renewable Energy Source. It&#39;s peculiar&nbsp; characteristics make it particularly appealing as a renewable, stable,&nbsp; reliable, cost-effective and environmentally benign solution for the&nbsp; energy challenge of the third millennium. Exploration focuses on the&nbsp; initial phase of any geothermal project, namely the identification and&nbsp; assessment of resources by means of integrated geological, remote&nbsp; sensing, geochemical and geophysical methods.
