In the seminar I will present recent results concerning the interplay of strong correlations and superconductivity. In particular I will show that there exist pairing channels orthogonal to strong correlation, which are actually enhanced, even enormously, in the proximity of a Mott metal-insulator transition. Since the results have been obtained by the Dynamical Mean Field Theory (DMFT), I will first briefly outline this technique. This will force me to discuss Anderson impurity models which naturally arise within DMFT. I will try to argue that these Anderson impurity models are not just a mere trick to solve DMFT, but unveil a kind of local criticality which arises in many strongly correlated metals near a Mott transition. I will discuss how this criticality influences the onset of bulk coherence, with particular emphasis on models for strongly correlated superconductors.
