Quantum Physicist, and Founder and Director of the Center for Hybrid Intelligence and ScienceAtHome.org
About the Speaker: Prof. Jacob Sherson is a professor in both departments of Physics and Management at Aarhus University, Denmark. He is the founder and director of the Center for Hybrid Intelligence and the citizen science project ScienceAtHome.org with more than 300,000 contributors.
Through large-scale online games, Prof. Sherson and his Center for Hybrid Intelligence investigate and assess human cognition and creativity and use this data source for novel insights into a broad range of sociological phenomena like entrepreneurship and risk willingness. In addition, he investigates how synergetic forms of human-computer collaboration can be the key to redefining sectors that are currently being transformed and disrupted by AI. Apart from natural and social science games, he is also investigating large-scale game-based assessments of both basic cognitive skills and 21st-century skills like creativity.
He won several awards for his work including the Grundfos Prize in 2018, BOLD Awards: Boldest Scientific Project and Boldest AI Project in 2019, and the Falling Walls Breakthrough of the year in the “Innovation and Science Management” category for Breaking the Wall of Hybrid Intelligence in 2020.
He earned his bachelor of science degrees in physics, mathematics, and computer sciences at Aarhus University, Denmark. He then pursued his Ph.D. studies at the Neils Bohr Institute, Copenhagen University, and Aarhus University.
