Description
The African continent has tremendous resources in natural products that have important applications in health and medicine. Numerous experimental groups involved in various types of field-work, have extracted and patented natural product medicines that have been used successfully in different contexts. Despite long study, what has been missing from this area of research is a strong component of chemical physics and theoretical physical chemistry. The goal of this project is to build capacity in Africa in the area of computational biophysics and chemical physics that is targeted to training the next generation of Africans with the appropriate skills so that they are able to address fundamental questions related to the synthesis, extraction and potency of natural product medicines.
The main goal of this project is to train young undergraduate and or masters/postgraduate students in the area of biophysics /chemical physics and guide them through different careers in biophysics by attending further studies
