Advanced Lectures on Theoretical Physics
Supporting physics teaching and research in Latin America

Physics Without Frontiers (PWF) and PhysicsLatam are pleased to announce our upcoming course on Commutative Algebra: Toward Algebraic Geometry. This course will be taught online from September 2024 to January 2025. This course is part of the long-term program on Algebraic Geometry and Related Topics.

This advanced course is designed for senior undergraduate and graduate students from Latin America who have a background in Abstract Algebra and are interested in exploring commutative and algebraic geometry in depthStudents who complete the course will receive an ICTP-PWF certificate.

To further enhance the learning experience, the course will feature a series of guest speakers who will deliver short mini-courses on the latest developments in commutative and algebraic geometry. PWF is committed to providing a platform for students in Latin America to pursue advanced studies in Physics and Mathematics. As part of this commitment, top-performing students without MSc./Ph.D. will be mentored to pursue studies abroad by providing advice and recommendations about scholarships at international programs.

HOW TO APPLY
The application procedure for the Commutative Algebra: Toward Algebraic Geometry is now open here from July 24th to August 24th, 2024.

Goals and Deliverables
  • Help students in Latin America to gain advanced knowledge in commutative and algebraic geometry.
  • Provide students with an opportunity to engage with other students from different universities in Latin America.
  • Enable students to solve weekly assignments on advanced topics.
  • Mentor top-performing students without MSc./Ph.D. to pursue studies abroad by providing advice and recommendations about scholarships at international programs.
