Scientific Calendar Event

Description

A School in collaboration with  AMU, CIMPA, ISP, CoRE-Math, and University of Rwanda

An ICTP Meeting in person

This school focuses on the foundations of real and harmonic analysis, and their interactions with other areas of pure and applied mathematics.

Real analysis studies the fine properties of functions and sets, while harmonic analysis provides a mathematical framework to study different types of oscillatory phenomena in nature. Together, they lie in the backbone of many applications in other areas, including partial differential equations, complex analysis, number theory, computer science and engineering. In this school, several experts in the field will deliver a series of introductory minicourses presenting core topics and some of these connections.

Mini-Courses:

Week 1
Emanuel Carneiro (ICTP, Italy) - Introduction to Real analysis
Mateus Sousa (BCAM, Spain) - Introduction to Fourier analysis I
Luz Roncal (BCAM, Spain) - Introduction to Fourier analysis II

Week 2
Job Bonyo (MMU, Kenya) - Spaces of analytic functions
Diogo Oliveira e Silva (IST - Lisbon, Portugal) - Nonlinear Fourier analysis and connections to quantum computing

Grants: A limited number of grants are available to support the attendance of selected participants, with priority given to participants from developing countries. There is no registration fee.
