Description |
Quantum computing represents a groundbreaking advancement in technology, offering the potential to solve complex problems beyond the capabilities of classical computers. As interest in this field grows globally, there is a pressing need to equip young scientists and researchers in Senegal with the necessary knowledge and skills to engage with quantum technologies. In collaboration with the Physics Without Frontiers (PWF) programme of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD) is organizing a specialized school titled "Exploring Quantum Frontiers: Empowering Senegalese Students and Researchers in Quantum Computing". The event will take place at UCAD from April 30 to May 3, 2025. This school aims to introduce participants to the fundamentals of quantum computing, providing a solid foundation in its core principles. In addition to theoretical sessions, the program will feature practical, hands-on training, enabling participants to explore state-of-the-art quantum simulation platforms. Special emphasis will be placed on Qiskit, a widely used open-source quantum computing framework, to help students and researchers develop a deeper understanding of quantum algorithms and simulations. This initiative seeks to foster a community of quantum computing enthusiasts in Senegal and beyond, paving the way for future advancements and collaborations in this cutting-edge field.
