| Description |
The call for application will be open soon The workshop focuses on numerical techniques for ocean models from coastal to large scales, sharing experience on model development, consistent coupling between numerics and parameterisations, as well as perspectives on dynamical core formulations. The Community for the Numerical Modeling of the Global, Regional, and Coastal Ocean (COMMODORE) initiative brings together ocean model developers from different communities in bianual workshops. Models have now reached such a high level of complexity that model development goes beyond the expertise of one group and requires interactions between physicists, mathematicians, and computer scientists. Contributions to the consistent coupling of hydrodynamics with other Earth system components are highly welcome to foster a more systematic communication between numerical modelers from different research disciplines. A special focus of the 4th COMMODORE workshop will be the involvement of scientific communities from developing countries discussing demands and challenges for model development for applications such as climate adaptations, extreme events, fishery management and local policies. There is no registration fee. Topics: Topics cover all aspects of advances in numerical ocean models and dynamical core development, for example:
D. Bruciaferri, Met Office, UK M. Chouksey, IOW, Germany R. Farneti, ICTP, Italy K. Klingbeil, IOW, Germany F. Lemarié, Inria, France Grants: A limited number of grants are available to support the attendance of selected participants, with priority given to participants from developing countries.
