Physics without Frontiers (an initiative of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics – ICTP) in collaboration with the Central America High Energy Physics and Scientific Computing Network, is very pleased to announce its Central America Symposium in Quantum Science and Technologies.
This four-day virtual event—timed to coincide with UNESCO’s International Year of Quantum Science and Technology 2025—brings together researchers, students, innovators, and policymakers from across Central America and beyond to explore the transformative power of quantum science.
From November 18 to 21, 2025, the symposium will feature inspiring talks by internationally renowned scientists, including a special presentation from CERN (European Center for Nuclear Research), showcasing how quantum principles are driving breakthroughs across diverse fields—from quantum optics and computing to high-energy physics and beyond.
The event also offers and calls postgraduate students and researchers from Central America to present their work, fostering collaboration and visibility within a unified scientific community.
In a unique bridge between science and society, we’ll welcome technology startups and innovation-driven companies to highlight how foundational research fuels real-world technological advances—and why investing in basic science is essential for sustainable development.
And in a dedicated session on November 18, we’re honored to host a closed forum with science policymakers and representatives from the Ministries of Science and Technology of Guatemala, Honduras, and Costa Rica. This dialogue will focus on strengthening regional support for fundamental research and its vital role in shaping resilient, knowledge-based societies.
