Scientific Calendar Event

Description Physics Without Frontiers invites women and girls in Afghanistan who are passionate about physics and related sciences to join a special online event celebrating the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This event will feature scientists from the field who will share their experiences, insights, and advice.

Connect here, starts 1pm CET Wednesday 11th February: https://meet.google.com/uve-madn-chj

In Afghanistan, women pursuing science often face extraordinary challenges, including restricted access to education, societal and cultural barriers, and limited opportunities for mentorship and research. Despite these obstacles, Afghan women continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience, determination, and ambition in the sciences. This event aims to amplify their voices, celebrate their journeys, and create a supportive space where their achievements and aspirations can be recognised and nurtured.

The initiative is organised in partnership with the Afghan Women’s Physics Academy (AWPA), whose mission is to empower Afghan women in physics and related sciences by providing high-quality online education, mentorship programs, and research opportunities. Through these efforts, AWPA helps women build scientific knowledge and skills, grow confidence, and actively contribute to scientific advancement and innovation—despite the unique challenges they face in their environment.

Join us and become part of a growing community of women in science, supporting and inspiring one another while shaping the future of scientific discovery.
