Abstract: As it is going to be the custom in this series of seminars, in the first part I will present a picture of the life of a scientist in Iran to see how being active under these circumstances can differ from the general image of the usual activity. n the second part I will give an overview of the search activities of my group in Iran. We focus on soft and biological matters and in the last decade we have also become interested in active particles, active polymers and active matters.

Bio: PhD in Physics from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, 1998. Postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz and at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. In 2004, I returned to Sharif University of Technology, where I founded the "Soft Matter" research group and have held a professorship since 2013. Since 2011, I have been a member of Commissions C3, C6, and C20 of the "International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP)". From 2008 to 2014, I was a board member of the Physics Society of Iran and its president from 2016 to 2023. For two terms (from 2014 to 2025), I was a Senior Associate at the ICTP, QLS.

We look forward to seeing many of you in person and on Zoom!
