Description
The "Educational Gap" in physics and the persistent "Brain Drain" across the Caribbean present significant barriers to regional development. Talented students often seek opportunities abroad due to a lack of local access to cutting-edge research infrastructure. This workshop addresses these systemic challenges by fostering regional cooperation and providing the high-level technical foundations required for international scientific integration. The workshop is strategically designed to bridge the transition from theoretical physics to technical competence in synchrotron radiation, adopting the "ABC Capacities" framework—focusing on Accelerators, Beamlines, and Computing—which serves as the operational foundation for the Greater Caribbean Light Source (GCLS) initiative. By preparing a specialized regional workforce, this activity ensures that Colombia and the Greater Caribbean can eventually operate and utilize the future GCLS facility to address local priorities in health, agriculture, and materials science.
