Abstract:
The aim of this informal seminar is to review different aspects of electron transport through nanoelectromechanical systems, i.e. devices of nanometers size in which coupling between the electrical and mechanical degrees of freedom is realized. By using the simplest model I will consider the main vibrational effects in electronic normal and superconducting transport, showing comparisons with experiments. Finally I will introduce a spectacular vibrational effect called electron shuttling which strongly enhances the current.
