About the Talk:
Particle physics is the study of nature at its most fundamental level. Particle physicists use data from the largest colliders to learn about the smallest building blocks of the universe. So, what exactly do particle physicists do and what are the big questions they hope to answer? And when all is said and done—what is a particle, anyway?

About the Speaker:
Prof. Flip Tañedo spends his time thinking about dark matter. He grew up in Los Angeles, USA, and fell in love with physics after reading The Physics of Star Trek. This carried into degrees in mathematics and physics at the Universities of Stanford, Cambridge, Durham, and a Ph.D. at Cornell. After a postdoc at the University of California, Irvine, he is faculty at the University of California, Riverside where he is known for being covered in chalk dust after a long day’s work. He is the first professor of Filipino descent working on dark matter theory.
