Prof. Bobby Acharya from the ICTP with the assistance of Dr. Viraf Mehta from the University of Göttingen, Germany, will teach a master-level course on the topic of particle physics during the first semester of the academic year 2021-2022. The course will take place at the physics department, in Birzeit University (BZU), Palestine. About 13 students are expected to officially register for the course which is required according to their study plan toward a master degree in physics from BZU. In addition to scientific knowledge, the course gives students access to interact with young researchers, at the forefront of THEP, delivering lectures in topics tailored to complement the expertise present at BZU. The ultimate goal is to prepare the students and give them appropriate knowledge to directly begin a PhD in High Energy Physics (HEP) or related fields.

This is not the first time to deliver such a course in collaboration with the PWF project at BZU. From previous courses, many excellent graduates who took this course, are currently in advanced stages of their academic career in HEP. A good number of them finished the Diploma Program at the ICTP and studying toward a PhD in prestigious universities in Europe. Others are currently following on their research in HEP at the post-doctoral level.
