ICTP Physics Without Frontiers in conjunction with the School of Nuclear and Allied Sciences, University of Ghana is organizing a One-week Training workshop in Advanced Statistics and Programming in R from May 23-27 2022. Fundamental fields like Statistics and programming is the backbone of every research work. Many young graduates are struggling to apply it to their research work. In this regard and as a continuing step in bridging the gap between research and data analysis, this training workshop is being organized. The target participants are undergraduate and master’s students, who are interested in learning or in improving their knowledge and skills in advanced statistics and programming in R which will have a great impact on their research work and research papers. Both theoretical and technical lectures will be offered as well as dedicated hands-on sessions where students will learn how to use the R-Programming tools. General topics will include Statistics and probability, An introduction to the R environment; Basic to advanced programming skills: data generation, manipulation, summaries, and plotting; Fitting statistical models: estimation, prediction, and testing; Drawing statistical inference from data and Basic statistical learning techniques. Knowledge in R is not a pre-requisite for participants The workshop school is designed to allow participants to join in -person. Female students are encouraged to apply. Lecturers: 1. Dr. Owiredu Gyampo, SNAS, GAEC 2. Dr Christiana Odumah Hood, University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast 3. Dr Joseph Tandoh, SNAS 4. Dr. Theophilus Adjirackor, NRA 5. Dr. Philip Deatanyah, NRA 6.
