Understanding dynamical phenomena in strongly coupled systems is an interesting challenge. While the quantum dynamics has been tackled on its own by a variety of techniques developed over the years, an important window into such physics is provided by the holographic AdS/CFT correspondence, which effectively converts the quantum problem into a classical master field dynamics in a suitable limit. I will review progress made over the last few years using AdS/CFT in shedding light in out-of equilibrium dynamics. Focus will be on elucidating the hydrodynamic regime of interacting field theories and issues regarding thermalization, etc., which will holographically be related to the behaviour of black holes in the dual description.
