The first part of the talk will aim to motivate slope stability for quivers using GIT via the Hilbert-Mumford criterion. In the second part, we investigate reasonable abelian subcategories of derived categories. Combining these two notions, in a sensible manner, will eventually lead us towards the definition of stability conditions on derived categories.
